Everyone loves counting down Christmas with an advent calendar! There’s nothing more exciting than opening up a little prize each day leading up to Christmas day. One way to put Christ back in Christmas could be through doing an advent calendar centered around the biblical Christmas story. Each day would tell a different part of the story and remind your kiddos why we celebrate this special holiday. This Advent Calendar made just for toddlers could be a great option!
2. A Birthday Party for Jesus
Why not throw a birthday party for Jesus?! After all, Christmas is all about celebrating his birth! Your family could grab some party hats, balloons, and even a little cake to celebrate our Savior’s birthday. Make it a big deal! Your children will always remember how much emphasis your family put on Jesus’ birthday, and that will help them to always remember that he is the true reason for the season.
3. Christmas Worship Songs
Deck the Halls, Jingle Bell Rock, and Frosty the Snowman are amazing Christmas songs! There’s nothing more fun than jamming out to songs like these all season long. However, there is something even more special about songs like Silent Night, Joy to the World, and O Holy Night. Christmas worship songs remind us of Jesus and the reason he came to this world. So, keep on dancing and singing to all of those Christmas classics but, don’t forget to take some time and worship to songs that glorify Jesus!

There’s no better way to experience the fullness of the Christmas story than reading it directly from God’s Word. A great way to put Christ back in Christmas is to take some time every day to read a part of the Christmas story directly from your Bible. Get your kids involved with this and, if they can, have them read parts of it as well! A great time to do this is at bedtime. If your family reads a book at night before bed, why not make the Bible your book of choice during the Christmas season?!
5. Invite People to Church
Christmas Eve services are a great opportunity to invite people to your church! Nothing puts Christ back in Christmas better than inviting people to church and having them hear the story of Jesus for themselves. You and your family will experience so much joy knowing that God used you to be the reason someone hears about Jesus for the very first time! Now, THAT is how you put Christ back in Christmas.
