Easter Sunday is just around the corner! Celebrating Easter as a family can create long-lasting memories and traditions. While egg hunts and bunnies make Easter so much fun, it is also important to celebrate what Easter is all about. Remembering what Jesus did for us on the cross and learning about how he rose again on the third day will shape and mold your children’s faith for the rest of their lives. There are so many fun and creative ways that families can celebrate Easter and remember all that Jesus has done for them. Check out these awesome ideas for celebrating Easter as a family:
Worship Music
One great way to celebrate Easter is through listening to worship music! So many incredible worship songs highlight the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus so beautifully. Your kids will love to sing along to these songs in the car and at home. Worship music is a wonderful way, as a family, for each of you to remember what Jesus did and show honor to God. Your family can pick a few songs that you each really love and each year at Easter time, you can play them and remember all that Jesus has done! It will make for an incredible family Easter tradition.
Reading God’s Word
Celebrating Easter as a family should always include reading God’s word! The Bible is the best place to go for the story of Jesus on the cross. Together, as a family, you can read the verses and truly understand what Jesus did for us and why he did it. There really is no greater love than Christ dying on the cross for each of our sins! There’s no better place to learn all about it than in God’s word. You can make it a family tradition to read the verses and stories in Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John every year! It will be something that your children will remember and carry with them forever.
Go to Church
There is nothing better than going to church on Easter Sunday! There is something so special about being in God’s house to celebrate all that Jesus did for us on the cross. The biggest celebration is that he rose again and defeated death! Gathering together with other believers to celebrate the resurrection is so powerful. It is also a great way to instill in your children the value of being in God’s house. They will always remember the emphasis that was put on being in church when they were kids and hopefully carry that with them for the rest of their lives!
Talk About It
Another great way to celebrate Easter as a family is to talk about it! It’s simple yet effective. Especially during the week leading up to Easter, start conversations with your children about Easter and what it means to them. Help guide them through the timeline of Jesus and why he did what he did on the cross for us. Having a consistent conversation with them will help them to learn what Easter is really all about as well as help them to understand the significance of it all!
