Making the Most of Your Weekends as a Family

The weekend comes and goes in what feels like a blink of an eye. At Connection Point Early Learning Center, we know that it can often feel like there aren’t enough hours in the weekend. That’s why maximizing your time on the weekends is so important to make the most of them. The time families spend together is precious and essential to the developmental growth of children. The memories made on the weekends can last a lifetime and impact a child’s life significantly! Saturday and Sunday are far more than days off for families with tasks to complete but also for families who need time spent together. Here are some tips for how to make the most of your weekends as a family:

Make A Plan

First, when it comes to making the most of your weekends, you must make a plan! A little planning on the front end can go a long way when you only have two short days of the week off. Creating a plan helps you get to any household chores and creates space for fun, rest, and memory-making with your little ones. Of course, a weekend plan should be a guideline, not a law you must stick to, no matter what. Allow for leniency and margin within your weekend plan because sometimes curveballs come, and you just have to go with it! But, all in all, having a weekend plan is a way to ensure you’re setting your family up for success.

Prioritize Rest

There is nothing more important on the weekends than prioritizing rest. For every family, resting can look different. Some families feel rested just sitting on the couch and watching movies together. Other families get their rest from adventuring together. No matter what resting looks like for you and your loved ones, prioritizing it will go a long way. We are commanded, by God, in the Bible to rest. That rest is called a sabbath day! So, not only is choosing space to rest on the weekends necessary, but it is also biblical. Resting together with your kids is laying a foundation of faith for them. They will take prioritizing a sabbath day with them for the rest of their lives!

Do Something Fun

At Connection Point, we believe every weekend should include a little fun! For some families, that may look like a trip to the park or seeing a movie at the theatre. For other families, it could be playing a game of kickball in the front yard or going on a scavenger hunt around the neighborhood. Whatever fun might look like for you and your family, we encourage you to embrace it! Memories are made through having fun together as a family. Your kids may not remember every chore you have them do, but they will remember all the fun you had spending time together. Chores are important and a great principle to teach, but having fun should also be prioritized within a family unit!

We cannot wait to hear about all the fun our families have making the most of their weekends! As mentioned before, at Connection Point Early Learning Center, we realize that weekends feel short. That’s why it is so important to us that each of you can maximize your time together as a family! As always, it is our honor and privilege to partner with families as much as we can.
