How to Spread Love this Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and there is no better time to spread love around your community! As a family, it’s important to teach your kids different ways to show love to neighbors and the people all around them. It can be through simple, kind gestures that can truly make all the difference. The Bible says “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.” in John chapter 15, verse 12. This is a commandment from Jesus himself to love the people around us the way he loves us. With that said, we have come up with some great ideas to spread love this Valentine’s Day! Read on to learn more:

Help a Neighbor with Household Chores

A great way to spread some love this Valentine’s Day is by helping a neighbor with household chores! You could encourage your kids to see a need within your neighborhood and help them to meet that need. Maybe you have a neighbor that needs their lawn mowed or garden tended to. You first see the need and then you meet the need! Not only will this bless your neighbors like crazy but it will also be such a blessing to you and your family. There is something so special about helping others and spreading love together as a family!

Donate to a Local Charity

Donating to a local charity is another great way to spread love this Valentine’s Day. As a family, you could fundraise money, pick out gently used clothes or toys, or even donate your time to a charity in your community that is in need. There are sure to be so many great charities in your town that would benefit and be so blessed by any donation your family may provide. This will also cultivate giving hearts within your children. Teaching them generosity at a young age is so important and foundational. It will be something they’ll take with them for the rest of their lives. Create Valentine’s with Encouraging Messages

Another awesome idea for spreading love this Valentine’s Day is by creating Valentines with encouraging messages. Seems fitting, right?! Grab some construction paper, scissors, markers, and crayons to create the perfect encouraging cards. You can put simple phrases like “you’re doing a great job!” or “you are awesome!” on them. You could also put encouraging Bible verses on them! Then, as a family, you all can drop them at your neighbor’s doors, leave them for someone to find in your local grocery store, or even send them in the mail if you have someone specific in mind. We’re sure that this will be something your family will love to do together and it could even become a fun yearly tradition.
