Great Books to Read to your Preschooler

It’s no secret that at Connection Point Early Learning Center, we love to provide a good reading book list for our families and students. We’ve shared some of our favorite books in the past but that list could go on for ages if we really wanted it to! That’s why we’ve taken some time to compile 8 more great books for you to read to your preschooler. Now that we have officially kicked off a new school year, now is as good a time as ever to make reading with your children a part of your daily or weekly routine. We hope that these book selections will help you to choose books that you and your child will enjoy equally. We’re sure that some of them will even become your favorites and you’ll be repeating them all the time. Check out these 8 great books to read to your preschooler:

 

  1. The Pout-Pout Fish

The Pout-Pout Fish tells the story of a fish that discovers that being glum or “pouty” isn’t his true destiny. This book is full of bright ocean colors and super fun rhymes that make it a great read to enjoy with your preschooler! 

 

  1. Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

The book Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? is a preschooler favorite. It tells the tale of a frog, a cat, and a yellow duck. It is written in a sin-song style which makes it so much fun for everyone!

 

  1. Giraffes Can’t Dance

Giraffe’s Can’t Dance is a sweet story about a Giraffe named Gerald. All he wants in this world is to be able to dance but has a hard time with his crooked knees and thin legs. In this book, Gerald learns to dance to his own tune when he receives some encouraging words from a friend. You and your preschooler will be so encouraged by this inspiring book!

Guess How Much I Love You might be a familiar story for you and your preschooler. In the book, a little hare shows his daddy just how much he loves him and comes to find out that his daddy loves him just as much!

This silly book may be a new one for you and your preschooler but we promise it’ll have you both giggling! The Day the Crayons Quit tells a fun story of disarray that might occur inside a crayon’s world. This one will definitely become a family favorite!

 

  1. Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus!

Don’t Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus! is a story all about a bus driver taking a break from his route and a pigeon volunteering to take his place. This interactive book allows your preschooler to help decide the pigeons fate as he takes on his bus driving duties.

 

  1. The Gruffalo

The Gruffalo is another book that just might become a household staple for you and your preschooler. This story is about a little mouse who imagines a creature, the Gruffalo, in order to keep himself out of harms way in the deep, dark woods. 

 

  1. Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs

Last but not least is Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs. This book uses imagination, colors, and shapes to tell a fun story all about different kinds of dinosaurs. Your dino-loving preschooler will want to read this one over and over!
